Mission Trails Industrial Park occupies a 41.5-acre site on Mission Gorge Road. Believed to be the largest, single-phase speculative development in San Diego, the 645,000-square-foot project will include five single-story tilt-up buildings designed to provide commercial, industrial, warehouse and distribution uses. Spaces available range from 6,000 to 300,000 square feet. Facilities include oversized common truck courts and 24- to 30-foot warehouse clear heights.

Primary tenants to date include Kaiser Foundation Healthplan which has leased 44,587 square feet of space for medical records storage; the San Diego Union-Tribune occupying 20,096 square feet for a regional distribution center; and Superior Products, a supplier of restaurant supplies and equipment, in 10,248 square feet.

Leighton and Associates played a key role early-on in the approval processes for development of Mission Trails Industrial Park, and continued serving the developer through all phases of the project. Serving as the developer's master geotechnical consultant, Leighton initially provided the geotechnical studies which supported selection of this site. Leighton's scope also included rough, fine, and post-grading. Leighton's affiliate firm, Teratest Labs, provided laboratory testing services.

The landowner, Asset Management commended Leighton's efforts in going the extra mile and for efforts beyond the call of duty over a year-and-a-half of operation. The commendation further credited Leighton personnel for their service and timeliness which paved the way for selecting their site over competing sites, and for reversing City concerns via our timely presentation, which facilitated the close of escrow with Trammel Crow.
